Yoga pose: the butterfly

A yoga asana for lightness, open hips and free emotions. Suitable for the beautiful, warm & blooming summer time... When was the last time you stopped and watched a butterfly consciously and full of fascination?

When the spirit of nature touches us, our hearts turn into a butterfly!

– Mehmet Murat Ildan

And this is how it works

  1. Sit on the edge of a pillow or folded blanket. This increases comfort and makes it easier to sit upright.

  2. Bend your knees gently and press the soles of your feet together. To increase the intensity of the stretch, position your feet closer to your hips. See what suits you today.

  3. Interlace your fingers around the toes of your feet or place your hands on your ankles or shins.

  4. Feel your sit bones anchored in the ground. From that grounded and strong foundation, extend your spine upwards.

  5. Shrink your shoulders back and let your shoulder blades melt down.

  6. Dynamically move your legs up and down at your own pace. Stay connected to your breath.

  7. Stay in this position for up to 5 minutes.

  8. Before you resolve the exercise, feel for a moment, taking a few conscious breaths.

What are the benefits of this exercise

Hip opener: do something good for the pelvis... especially when we sit a lot in everyday lifeRelease blockages: not only energy, but also emotions can build up in the hip region and flow more freely again through the asana

Mindfulness: connecting with the body

Stress reduction: consciously allow yourself a moment's break
